Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Twyford Gardens is a specialist residential service for adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).
We follow an active, person-centred approach which supports individuals to express their wishes, make choices and achieve their goals with the aim of increasing independence.
Our Total Communication approach enables staff to implement individualised communication strategies for individuals with severe communication and sensory difficulties.
Individuals are supported to make choices and have control over their lives, and team members use a wide range of communication aids and methods, including intensive interaction, hand-over-hand support, eye movements and facial expressions.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Twyford Gardens is a large property with four en-suite bedrooms. There is a communal living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and a large garden for when people want to socialise with others. The service also has a large people carrier car so it is possible for everyone to go on any day trips.
Twyford Gardens is located in Durrington, near Worthing, within easy reach of the town centre and the seafront. There is access to a wide range of local community facilities including shops, pubs, restaurants, libraries and colleges. The nearby mainline stations and local bus services provide good links to London and the surrounding coastal areas.

Lifestyle
People at Twyford Gardens are supported to lead active lives and to take part in a range of activities within the community and in the service. These include cinema trips, theatre trips, music sessions, swimming and meals out to name a few.
Individuals at the service regularly integrate into the community, with some going to regular football matches and one individual attending meditation classes. Additionally, one person was supported to fly in an RAF helicopter, which has always been his dream.
Staff also support people to go on any day trips they wish to, and one individual recently went on his first holiday to the Channel Islands.
