Here, near Chelmsford, within this supported living home for adults with learning disabilities, the experienced and well-trained team use a person-centred planning approach, with support tailored towards people.

The support provided is outcome-focused, with the aim of increasing the person’s independence through participating in meaningful activities. People are supported to identify and maintain leisure and social activities as well as any educational and/or employment placements. Team members are available 24 hours a day and are experienced in providing specialised care and support for people.

A safe and supportive place to call home

The home has four bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite. There are multiple communal areas for socialising with others, including a lounge, kitchen and conservatory area. There is also an additional shared bathroom.

The home has a large garden, which is ideal for social events and activities, especially in the summer.

Ideally located, this home provides great access to community facilities. There are shops, restaurants, bars, a post office and a park nearby, which people regularly enjoy visiting. There are also great transport links to the surrounding areas, which are perfect for day trips.

Lifestyle

People are supported to lead active lives and take part in a range of leisure activities to increase social and communication skills. These can include activities such as swimming, gardening, cinema trips, day trips, shopping, day centre activities and arts and crafts.

People are also supported in developing independence skills in order to be self-sufficient, such as meal preparation, cooking and domestic tasks around the house. Additionally, the team support people seeking and exploring work placements and/or volunteering to enrich lives and promote further engagement with their community.
