About this home

Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

This specialist residential home in Bath provides short and long-term support to four adults. Our friendly and understanding team supports people who are deaf and have a range of support needs, including learning disabilities, low emotional confidence, and mental ill-health.

We support people from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and we also have substantial experience in supporting people whose previous placements may have broken down due to their complex needs. We aim to understand what people are communicating through their behaviour and look for ways to enable them to express themselves constructively. We’re focused on empowering people to live their life to the full, to have fun and fulfil their potential.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

There’s a friendly, family atmosphere about our Dominion Road home. There are four single ensuite bedrooms, a communal kitchen/dining room and a lounge, plus a laundry room, shower room and downstairs toilet. Outside, the garden is a lovely place to relax and socialise. It’s a real ‘sun trap’ on warm days, and some of the people we support enjoy growing vegetables and flowers or simply sitting and chatting around the table.

The home is in the Twerton area of Bath, which has great local facilities along with an excellent bus service into the centre of the city. Bath itself has great shops, cinemas, restaurants, pubs and cafés as well as famous ancient sites to explore.

Dominion Road is part of a range of homes in Bath that offer diverse support and housing for people with hearing loss and hearing impairment, which promote increased independence at a person’s own pace.

Lifestyle

The team at Dominion Road believes that being deaf, or having hearing loss, shouldn’t stop a person from achieving their goals. We use a range of communication techniques, person-centred approaches and promote positive risk-taking in all aspects of our care planning and review process. This ensures that everyone we support is fully involved in their own support.

We use one-page profiles that make it clear what’s important to each person we support and what a good day looks like for them. We support each person to develop independent living skills, whether that’s managing their medicines, developing their cooking or budgeting skills, or joining a community group.

We listen to people, act on their responses and feedback, and support them to live active, healthy, fulfilled lives.
