About this home

Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

This is an enhanced supported living home for adults with learning disabilities, who are d/Deaf and communicate using BSL. The team support a range of additional complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions and mental health needs.

Offering individualised support packages within a 24-hour environment, the team is fully BSL trained with a large proportion also d/Deaf themselves. Some of our team members are Profoundly Deaf, whilst others have Cochlear implants.

The team here are trained especially to meet people’s needs and to work in partnership with families, carers, advocates and professionals to ensure that the support provided is proactive, appropriate, and geared towards each person’s needs and aspirations.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

This home is a two-story building with an additional self-contained apartment on its grounds, which together provides accommodation for up to five adults. Each person has their own room and bathroom facilities. The lounge, kitchen, activities room, and garden are shared communal areas.

There is parking, and the home is equipped with flashing fire alarm systems.

Located in the town of Hordle, in the New Forest, it is within easy reach of shops, the GP surgery, Opticians, Dental surgery and Chemist, as well as local community facilities.

It is near the centre of the New Forest, very close to the local beach, Bournemouth and Southampton Deaf Clubs, as well as the local college who supplies BSL communication support for a number of government-run and leisure courses.

Lifestyle

The team offer a range of mixed activities which are designed specifically for d/Deaf people and promote increased independence. These activities include Deaf clubs, pub visits and meals out, college classes, crafting, gardening, days out to theme parks and other points of interest.

People can also enjoy the various activities that the New Forest has to offer, including walks, farmers markets, the Netley Steam Fair and the picturesque scenery.
