Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Pen Y Hill is a specialist residential home providing 24-hour support for adults with physical and learning disabilities, complex health needs, epilepsy, diabetes and communication and sensory impairments.
Individuals are supported to develop individualised and accessible person-centred plans that promote increased choice, control over their lives and independence skills. Every aspect of a person’s life is seen as a potential learning opportunity, and the support team will work closely with the individual, family members and healthcare professionals in order to help people achieve their goals. People are supported to take part in meaningful activities and engage with the wider community in order to increase social and communication skills as well as confidence.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Pen Y Hill is a five-bedroom detached property with bedrooms spread over two floors.
The property has two bedrooms upstairs with a shared bathroom facility, and the three bedrooms downstairs all have en suite facilities that have been adapted to aid mobility. There are also communal facilities for individuals to socialise with others, including a living room, dining room, conservatory and kitchen area.
There is a large garden surrounding the property, which people can access and where social activities and events take place.
The property is situated on the outskirts of Abergavenny town centre and is a short distance from shops and local amenities.

Lifestyle
At Pen Y Hill, people are encouraged to lead active lives and take part in a range of activities. Some examples of these include dance classes, trampolining, pedal power bike rides, bowling, arts and crafts classes, trips to the cinemas and theatre to name a few.
They also get involved with gardening, day centre activities, meeting friends and family, day trips away, and watching football and rugby at the local pub.
Pen Y Hill is a home situated within a scenic location for all those living there to enjoy. The home can be described as a calm, peaceful, and relaxing environment which is full of laughter, enjoyment and affection.
The home is wheelchair friendly, and the home has access to its own wheelchair-friendly vehicle, meaning trips out and about are with ease.
People are also supported to learn independence skills with a view to becoming as independent as possible and to move on to more independent living. This includes budgeting, meal preparation, banking, self-care and domestic tasks.
