About this home

Mill Hayes is a Residential Home for adult males. The home can support up to seven people with diagnosed learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder and mental health needs. Each individual receives planned and coordinated person-centred support that is appropriate and inclusive for them.

This service was developed in response to the direction of the NHS England Transforming Care Programme in discharging people from long-stay care in hospital. Mill Hayes is registered with the CQC for those that require accommodation and nursing or personal care.

What we offer

The facilities at Mill Hayes are designed to meet all the individual needs of the people who use the service. People at the home have their own bedroom with additional lounge space to relax in, carry out individual pursuits and entertain their guests in private if they so wish.

The home is split over two floors, with three bedrooms on the ground floor and four on the first floor. Overall, there are seven registered beds, which are studio bedrooms with en-suite facilities.

On the ground floor, there is access to a shared lounge and large kitchen. The ground floor is spacious, which allows for emotional and behavioural needs to be met on a more individual and responsive manner. The first floor also has a communal lounge and kitchen, allowing the floors to operate independently of each other.

In addition, there is a designated meeting room on the first floor, a large conservatory and large garden. One of the lounges lends itself to being a private area for two of the rooms if necessary.

Lifestyle

People have access to outside space for eating or socialising, and the service is close to local amenities such as shops and restaurants, as well as various parks and nature reserves.

Most of the people within the home decorate their rooms by themselves or with the help of staff. This is one of the ways that we help those we support to settle in and feel at home.

How facilities are used by individuals is dependent upon their ability and skills and what’s been agreed in their care plan. Also, the exact use of the three communal areas will be largely dependent on the compatibility of the people who use the service.
