About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Lynfords is a residential home supporting adults with severe or Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The house is a bungalow, with wheelchair accessibility throughout.

The skilled team are able to support people with complex needs, including postural care, people with limited mobility, complex epilepsy and sensory impairments.

We focus on supporting people to benefit from excellent health support alongside good social and emotional support. The proactive team work in collaboration with the person, their family and external professionals to promote and maintain as much independence as possible. This is through providing support to actively engage in the local community while enjoying a home life that is safe and secure.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Lynfords provides ground-floor accommodation for six people. The home is purpose-built and can accommodate people who use wheelchairs and those who require other aids for mobility.

Lynfords has its own garden area to the rear of the property and a shared communal patio area to the front of the bungalow, which is regularly used for social activities. There is also a new sensory garden, which is shared with a neighbouring home, The Marshes, which people can enjoy.

The service is an attractive bungalow situated on the outskirts of Hailsham, a town in the heart of the picturesque Sussex Downs. People can easily access nearby community amenities, including local shops, doctors, pharmacies and a leisure centre which has a bowling alley.

Individuals within the home facilitate the use of these local amenities on a daily basis and also access the local tourist attractions at Brighton, Hastings, and Eastbourne, which are a short drive away.

Lifestyle

People at Lynfords are supported to lead active lives in order to develop social and communication skills. The local community centre is used on a weekly basis by Lynfords for various activities, including club nights and sensory sessions. Outside professionals often come to the service, providing therapeutic support such as music sessions, light exercise sessions and aromatherapy.

Individuals can also participate in courses at the local transport college, go on trips to the pub, take part in in-house animal visits and go on trips to the local towns.

There are regular events held at Lynfords that everyone can get involved in, such as the recent scarecrow building competition, where Lynfords competed against other services across London and the South East to see who could build the best scarecrow.
