About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Hillview is a large, detached bungalow, and home for six adults with moderate/severe learning disabilities. People supported may have an additional neurodivergent condition such as autism. The house is located conveniently on the outskirts of Polegate and close to all local amenities including being close to the beautiful coastal town of Eastbourne and the South Downs.

People living at Hillview have access to skilled 24 hour support including waking night support. This strong and stable team offer personalised support to people with complex needs which may include behaviours which challenge, limited mobility, people who use wheelchairs, sensory impairments, complex epilepsy, multiple health conditions and eating/drinking difficulties. The team support people with significant communication difficulties.

The team, many of whom have worked at Hillview for many years, are proud of the relationships they have developed with people they support, and families ensuring excellent person centred support, accessing expertise as appropriate from the Achieve together internal Health & Wellbeing Team, Positive Behaviour Support Team and local community health services.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Hillview is a large, six-bedroom detached bungalow in East Sussex. People have their own personalised bedroom and share a communal kitchen/diner and spacious lounge. Both the bathroom and shower room are fully fitted wet rooms with adapted bathing and showering facilities to meet physical needs.

People also enjoy the fenced courtyard and spacious gardens, which are fully wheelchair accessible.

Hillview is a short walk away from Polegate train station and local shops, a ten-minute drive from the seafront and right next to Sussex Downs. There are also good bus routes to Eastbourne town centre.

Lifestyle

The team at Hillview are skilled at developing trusting relationships and getting to know and respond to each person’s individual preferences. Equally the team work closely with each person to seek out new opportunities, to expand social networks and interests.

People living at Hillview can enjoy a wide range of activities, including college classes, gardening, day centre activities, cinemas, theatres, swimming, sensory rooms, cooking/baking and music sessions, to name a few. People are also supported to go on day trips and holidays. The team are committed to support people to be as actively engaged in their local community as they want to be.

The team host various events throughout the year, such as tea parties and barbecues, actively encouraging involvement with families.

Many of the people currently living at Hillview have lived there for several years, benefiting from long term continuity of support from team members they have developed trusting relationships with.
