More about our approach to quality and safeguardingAbout this home
Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living
Gallaudet is a specialist residential home, without nursing, in Bath that provides 24-hour support to eight adults. The people we support are d/Deaf, with additional complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities. The team at Gallaudet focuses on enabling people they support to be as independent as possible.
We learn everything we can about people’s needs, preferences and goals and use a variety of communication techniques and positive risk-taking to enable people to live rich and rewarding lives. People we support, their families and their support network are fully involved in their support. And we ensure that everyone has fun, is supported to learn new skills and lives the life they want. You can learn more about our d/Deaf services from the brochure below.

Independently Audited : September 2025
“Gallaudet Home is a caring and supportive service that aims to provide a safe and person-centred environment for adults with learning disabilities. While recent evaluations identified improvements needed in oversight, documentation, and incident management, the service benefits from a stable and experienced team who know the residents well and promote their independence. With focused attention on embedding governance, enhancing staff training, and improving compliance with CQC standards, Gallaudet Home is working towards consistently delivering high-quality care and a positive living experience.”

What we offer
A safe and supportive place to call home
Gallaudet is fully wheelchair-accessible, with eight bedrooms, one of which has a wheelchair-accessible ensuite shower room. There’s a shared kitchen, lounge, dining area and conservatory – perfect for relaxing and socialising with friends.
The home is on the ground floor of the larger Poolemead complex, and there are beautiful shared gardens that people living in this home are welcome to use, as well as a coffee lounge and jacuzzi.
The home is in the Twerton area of Bath and is close to good local facilities. There’s an excellent local bus service in the centre of Bath. The city itself has great shops, cinemas, and a variety of restaurants, pubs and cafés.
The Poolemead complex includes a range of support services and housing that enables people we support to take transitional steps to greater independence and participation in the wider community.

We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
When a new person joins us at Gallaudet, we work with them, their family and support network to create a support plan. This details their likes and dislikes, their goals, what they need support with, and what they can manage on their own.
The plan also includes the person’s preferred way of communicating with the team, either via British Sign Language, pictures, or their own unique method.
The Gallaudet team supports people with all aspects of daily life, from developing cooking skills to support with keeping active or help with getting involved in the local community. Whatever a person wants to achieve, we’ll support them to make positive choices to make it happen.
