What we offer
A safe and supportive place
In promoting specialised services for people with a diagnosis of Autism and behaviour that challenges, we promote Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) as our intrinsic model of provision. This model incorporates proactive strategies, including active support, communication (TEACCH), PBS plans and specific training to embed a values approach to supporting people, as well as reactive strategies as a last resort.
All specific provision is monitored via periodic service review and in line with PBS standards.
Our support services support individuals who are Deaf, deafblind or have hearing loss in the community. Achieve together Ltd – DCA Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan will communicate with individuals to ensure that needs are met effectively, using British Sign Language (BSL), lip reading, or a combination of both. Provisions are made for people to be able to communicate in their first language of BSL via team (staff) members who can communicate effectively because they are Deaf themselves, HH, and or trained to BSL level 2 or 3, or via interpreters as needed too. Team members (staff) are matched to work with the individuals based on communication needs and language registers, as well as other factors.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
Across all our supported living homes, individuals are supported to lead active lives and take part in a variety of activities both within the community and at the services themselves. These activities aim to increase social and communication skills as well as give each person more confidence and independence. Examples of leisure activities that individuals may want to take part in include swimming, day centre activities, bowling, gardening, cinema and theatre trips, music sessions, day trips and holidays, to name a few.
People will also be supported in learning life skills, such as meal preparation, budgeting, self-care and cooking, so they can become more self-sufficient with a view to moving on to more independent living. People will also be supported in identifying and maintaining any education, paid work and/or volunteering they wish to do.
