Thoughtfully designed for independent living
At Applegate House, the people we support are encouraged to enjoy active, fulfilling lives and take part in activities that matter to them. The team encourages everyone to explore their interests, build confidence and try new things at their own pace. The people we support can enjoy local events, days out, time in the garden, celebrations and everyday activities around the home.
There are also opportunities to volunteer and take on small roles locally, helping to build skills and gain a sense of accomplishment. Applegate House also has its own historic air raid shelter, adding character to the setting and offering a great talking point about the home’s story.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Applegate House offers a warm and comfortable atmosphere, with six self-contained flats that support independence and privacy for the people we support. Each flat has its own en-suite, kitchen, lounge and bedroom, giving people their own personal space. There are also shared spaces, including a communal lounge, where people can relax, spend time together and enjoy everyday activities.
The home also has a garden and outside space to enjoy, as well as a transport vehicle to make trips and days out easier to plan. These facilities support comfort, choice and independence, helping the people we support feel settled and at home.

Applegate House is in the heart of Barton-upon-Humber, a lively town with a welcoming local feel. The home is a short distance from supermarkets, the library, the leisure centre, pubs, restaurants and Baysgarth Park, giving plenty of choice of places to visit. Local events, including the summer carnival, Christmas markets and annual Bike Night, offer more opportunities to enjoy the area.
The home also has good public transport links, with regular buses to Hull and nearby towns, as well as a local train station. Applegate House has a good relationship with the nearby GP surgery, and a nurse practitioner visits weekly.
