Kelly was chosen by the judges for her leadership through a very challenging time.
A person who lives at the supported living accommodation (717) in Manchester has been in crisis due to declining mental health caused by events in her personal life. Unfortunately, she could not be admitted to hospital due to a lack of resources within mental health services. Kelly has been on hand round the clock to support this person, and the team, to ensure she gets the right help to keep her safe.
Kelly showed resilience and bravery during one incident where, it has been said, she and her team saved the person’s life. They kept her safe whilst a bed was found. Due to their bravery in supporting this lady, she is now safe in hospital receiving the correct treatment she urgently needed.
Regional Manager and Acting Head of Area Diane Newlands, who nominated Kelly, said: “There is no bigger gesture than saving a person’s life. A massive thank you from us all at Achieve together for putting people at the heart of everything you do. I am so proud to be part of achieve together and this home.
“Thanks to Kelly and her team members for the kindness and compassion given to a person who was at their lowest – who did not want to live any more.
“They made this person feel valued and cared for and, more importantly, that they wanted to live.”
Exceptionally proud
On hearing that she had won the award, Kelly said: “I am truly honoured to receive the recognition of Manager of the month – I share the award with my team. My team are the heart of the exceptional, high quality support delivered to people at our home. They have very difficult and challenging days where they are saving lives of people but always come back the next day to do it all again, showing care, compassion, and resilience to achieve best outcomes no matter the challenges they face.
“The person mentioned in my nomination is now back home and improving every day due to the quality of support delivered by all.”
Kelly adds: “I am exceptionally proud of my team and truly appreciate all the support they show each other and the people.”
