Suicide prevention and self-harm support
We listen. We care. We act.
Compassionate support when life feels overwhelming.
At Achieve together, we are committed to reducing the risk of suicide and self-harm. Our teams provide expert, kind and proactive support for people in crisis – always working together with the individual, their loved ones, and health professionals to ensure no one faces distress alone.
When someone is hurting, we act with understanding – not judgement
People with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with an acquired brain injury and/or mental health conditions may be at higher risk of self-harm or suicidal thoughts – especially when life feels overwhelming or isolating.
We don’t just respond to crisis. We work to understand why someone is feeling this way, and how we can support them to find hope again.
Our approach is proactive, trauma-informed, and personalised.
Specialist training to support people in their darkest moments
All our support is overseen by our Head of Forensic Mental Health and Mental Health Nurse Training Facilitator, who work closely with managers and teams to develop personalised risk and wellbeing plans. Collectively we work with each person to assist them to create their own safety plan.
Our training includes:
This helps every team member respond with calm, confidence, and compassion – even in moments of crisis.
Support doesn’t happen in isolation – it happens in partnership
We collaborate with:
Suicide risk is dynamic, so our support is too – evolving in real time with the person’s needs, feelings and circumstances.
We respond quickly when risk escalates and plan deeply to reduce the chances of it happening again.
We help people find purpose, connection and reasons to live
Our support goes beyond crisis management – we help people build lives they value.
This means:
People supported by Achieve together can, and do, move from crisis to confidence – with the right people beside them.
We speak up for people at risk – and for better mental health for all
We are proud members of the National Suicide Prevention Alliance and committed to fighting health inequality through:
- Advocacy during mental health assessments and treatment
- Challenging diagnostic overshadowing
- Supporting safe discharge and follow-up care
- Promoting proactive, person-centred risk management
We are here to protect life, dignity, and the right to be heard.
