Positive Behaviour Support & PASS+PORT™

Behaviour support built on kindness, trust and empowering people to have more control over their lives

At Achieve together, we support people with complex needs through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) that prioritises quality of life, safety and human connection. Our trauma-informed, evidence-led approach is supported by our unique PASS+PORT™ programme – empowering teams to reduce restrictions and build positive, meaningful relationships.

A proactive approach to better lives

Our Positive Behaviour Support framework helps people lead safer, more fulfilling lives – by focusing on what matters most:

  • Emphasis on the person’s Quality of Life
  • Understanding what drives behaviour through Functional Assessment
  • Coproducing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans
  • Supporting skill and confidence development and enhancing resilience
  • Enhancing team capability so support is consistent, confident, kind and caring
  • Creating Capable Environments for people to thrive, living their best life
  • Reducing restrictive practices through everyday human connection
  • Reducing the use of psychotropic medicines for behavioural support, with commitment to the STOMP Programme

Led by our Head of Positive Behaviour Support & Restriction Minimisation and a team of specialist Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioners, we’re here to support lasting progress.

PASS+PORT™ – our Positive Behaviour Support training programme

PASS+PORT™ is our nationally recognised PBS development programme. It helps support teams:

  • Focus on quality of life, and skill development
  • Focus on Inclusive Communication
  • Build positive engagement and rapport
  • Develop supportive values and attitudes
  • Understand the ‘why’ behind behaviour
  • Learn trauma-informed ways to support
  • Deliver support that reduces restrictions and risk

PASS+PORT™ is accredited with BILD ACT and meets the Restraint Reduction Network Standards, reinforcing best practice at every level.

Understanding trauma, changing lives

Many people we support – and their families – have lived through trauma, including time in restrictive settings.

Through our PBS and PASS+PORT™ training, we ensure:

  • Support teams recognise trauma signs and respond with care
  • Training focuses on prevention, not punishment
  • We work to heal, not retraumatise

Everyone deserves support that respects their story and strengthens their future.
