Lifestyle
People living at Thorpe House are supported to lead fulfilling and active lives. Team members encourage and enable people to develop practical skills – such as cooking, recycling, and household tasks – while fostering independence and self-confidence. People are involved in weekly activity planning and are encouraged to take part in activities that reflect their interests and preferences.
Communication is a key focus, with tools such as picture cards used to ensure people can express their needs, preferences, and feelings. People are also supported to be active participants in their local community and make meaningful connections, with daily activities offered both onsite and at the nearby Roxby House.
The home environment is warm, welcoming, and adapted to individual needs. Bedrooms and shared areas can be personalised, and the atmosphere is calm, respectful and inclusive. People are involved in their own support reviews, and their families are welcomed into the planning process.
Above all, Thorpe House strives to create a space where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to live their best lives –offering meaningful experiences, developing life skills, and supporting wellbeing every step of the way.
