What we offer
A safe and supportive place
This home is a large property for up to five adults. The home is an ‘upside down house’ whereby bedrooms are on the ground floor, and living rooms are on the top floor. There is also communal space, including a large open-plan diner lounge, fully equipped kitchen and garden for when people want to socialise with others.
This home is located in Pontllanfraith, just five minutes from Blackwood town centre, which offers a wide range of community facilities. There are also excellent transport links to Cardiff and Newport.
Blackwood town has many shops, cafés and even a Maxime cinema which costs £3.50 for a ticket and shows all the latest films. Blackwood has an Asda supermarket, and Sainsbury’s is around a 10-minute walk from the home. Blackwood has local banking branches for Halifax, Santander, Lloyds, and HSBC, as well as a local post office. There is a Gym by Sainsbury’s supermarkets, and both hairdressers and Barbers are within a 5-minute walk.
There is a lovely walking nature trail on the doorstep, which takes you along the river to the ‘old mill house’ and a sports playing field.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
People at this home enjoy tending to the garden, pamper sessions, cooking and movie nights. In the local community, people enjoy eating out at the local restaurants, going to the gym and day trips. There is a regular Friday coffee morning people living here attend. They also enjoy visiting the local pub and watching the rugby.
We support individuals to plan and organise their own activity timetables and take part in activities that develop social, communication, and life skills. These range from support in daily life skills such as shopping through to college placements, voluntary and paid work placements, and leisure activities.
People are encouraged to express their rights freely and become contributing members of the community. In our experience, this helps to increase social and emotional well-being and decreases the stigma that can affect people with learning disabilities.
The home can be described as a cosy, homely, and chilled environment, where people living here and bubbly and happy and enjoy interacting with each other.
