Lifestyle
The support team is dedicated to empowering individuals to acquire the skills necessary for independent living, should they choose to pursue it. People supported are encouraged to embrace new experiences and make lifestyle changes aligned with their personal decisions, engaging in enriching activities that add value to their lives. Our community involvement extends to various social groups and events, including football matches, gym sessions, cinema outings, bowling nights, BBQ gatherings, and commemorative celebrations.
Leisure opportunities abound, with options such as bowling, cinema trips, local walks, gym workouts, arts and crafts sessions, and educational pursuits like attending the local Calex. Several people supported are currently exploring voluntary employment, while others enjoy community outings to Brighton Pier, Kensington Park, GiG buddies events, SODA club gatherings, and local pubs for football matches. Additionally, people supported partake in cultural activities such as visiting the library, attending the Croydon Jazz club, and joining Sunday services at the local church.
Our home fosters a vibrant social atmosphere, with regular karaoke nights, board game sessions, takeaway and film evenings, and bingo competitions. The team actively encourages people supported in honing essential life skills, including cooking, home cleaning, travel training, money management, and reading. Currently, people supported are in the process of crafting their own CVs for potential local work opportunities. Moreover, residents are encouraged to champion health and safety practices, with some taking on roles as fire marshals.
Through structured activities and personalised support, people supported have made significant strides in enhancing their independence skills. Several people supported now take charge of cooking meals for their peers, while others manage their own banking affairs independently, showcasing the positive outcomes of our holistic approach to care and support.
