Thoughtfully designed for independent living
This is a specialist Supported Living home for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. People are supported to develop person-centred plans that promote increased choice, control over their lives, and independence whilst focusing on recovery and relapse prevention.
Our experienced team works in partnership with families, carers, advocates, and public service professionals to ensure that the support provided is proactive and appropriate.
We follow an active approach tailored to individual’s needs which enables people to proactively manage their mental health needs, make informed choices and achieve their planned outcomes.
People are supported to develop individualised Health Action Plans, which include access to a range of healthcare professionals.
We work closely with community teams to ensure that individuals continue to access key services and appointments. This close working relationship enables us to focus on increased independence and recovery for people who have mental health needs.

A safe and supportive place
Troed-y-Bryn is a spacious property for up to seven adults. All rooms have en-suite facilities, and people also have the opportunity to access communal space, including a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a garden.
Troed-y-Bryn is a large detached house situated on the outskirts of Caerphilly, South Wales. The home is in the centre of the local community and is a short bus ride from Caerphilly town centre, where a wide range of local community facilities can be accessed. Caerphilly has excellent train and bus links into central Cardiff and the surrounding areas.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
The home itself is large and offers ample space for all those living here.
Although its size, it is still a cosy, warm, friendly and homely household. Troed-Y-Bryn is an all-female home. All the ladies get on well and interact positively.
The home benefits from an outlook onto the local park and fields, as well as its own garden, complete with a small greenhouse. People living here spend as much time as possible in the garden soaking in the sun and surrounding nature.
Troed-Y-Bryn is a calm and peaceful environment with a slower pace of life. The ladies living here are mature and enjoy a quiet environment. Visitors are always welcome!
Although quiet and calm, the ladies love to keep busy and can often be found gardening, completing puzzles and painting. The activity doesn’t stop there as the ladies venture out to the local cinema, the coastlines, and of course, some shopping.
Generally, the ladies are independent and enjoy their individual activities, but they love to get together for a cup of tea and catch up. Sunday roast dinners are a Sunday tradition together also.
We support people to choose and take part in activities that develop social, communication and life skills. These range from support in daily life skills such as shopping or taking driving lessons through to college placements, voluntary work experience and paid work placements.
Individuals are encouraged to express their rights freely and become contributing members of their community. In our experience, this helps to increase social and emotional well-being and decreases the stigma that can affect people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
