Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Olive Lane is a welcoming home supporting up to eight people who are D/deaf and D/deaf blind with additional needs, including learning disabilities, autism, dementia, epilepsy, diabetes and mental health needs.
The team provide person-centred support in a warm, family-feel environment where communication is at the heart of everyday life. Using approaches such as British Sign Language and Hands-on Sign, people are supported to make choices, feel involved and develop greater independence.
With activities including shopping, bowling, swimming, film nights, cafés, local trips, arts and crafts, cooking, themed social nights, reflexology, gardening and pamper sessions, there is always something meaningful to enjoy.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Olive Lane is set in a quiet residential area in the West Midlands. The home is fully wheelchair-accessible and thoughtfully designed around the needs of the people we support. It has eight bedrooms, each with its own washbasin, alongside two adapted bathrooms, a shower room and separate toilets. These accessible spaces help people feel comfortable and supported with their daily routines and personal care.
The garden offers space to relax, socialise and enjoy time outdoors. People can also get involved in gardening in the greenhouse, including growing fruit, vegetables and other plants.

Olive Lane is based in Blackheath, an industrial town in the West Midlands with a busy, community-focused feel. The local town centre has an active high street and a historic market, with stalls selling food, clothes and household goods.
The home is within easy reach of Birmingham city centre, where people can enjoy shopping and a range of attractions, including Birmingham Deaf Club, the Sea Life Centre and MAC Birmingham. Dudley town centre is also around 16 miles away, offering further places to visit, such as Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Living Museum.
Olive Lane is just a short 10-minute walk from Blackheath town centre and has good transport links, with a regular bus service that stops right outside the home’s front door.
