About this home

Holly Tree Cottage, in Somerset, is a residential home for adults with autism spectrum conditions, moderate learning disabilities, severe learning disabilities, complex needs including behaviours that may challenge and epilepsy. Holly Tree Cottage has been developed to provide a living environment which more readily reflects a modern family home.

The team support people with building resilience through the promotion of positive risk-taking and equipping people with practical, transferable skills. Through support, we aim to reduce dependence on the support team and provide the necessary skills for each person supported to thrive independently both inside and outside of the home so that they might then be able to move on to greater independence in the future.

What we offer

Holly Tree Cottage is a well-presented homely environment that is set in a busy yet rural area. There are two self-contained flats with kitchenettes, three en-suite bedrooms and a further two bedrooms with bathrooms and communal areas.

The conservatory leads into a spacious, secure rear garden with a large patio area with seating where people often choose to relax.

Located just a short walk from Burnham on Sea town centre, the beach and a 5-minute drive from the M5 motorway, Holly Tree Cottage provides excellent links to the local community with shops, cinema, college and leisure centres.

Lifestyle

People at Holly Tree Cottage are supported to take part in a wide range of activities aimed at increasing independence and building on skills. These include walking, beach visits, using the bus, trips to the swimming pool, bike riding, swimming, snooker, weekly trips to the gym, walking football, cinema visits and theatre visits.

People are supported to develop their domestic skills; this includes meal preparation, grocery shopping, self-care and budgeting. People are also supported and encouraged to gain employment, education and/or volunteering placements, which are shown to greatly increase independence and confidence.
