About this home

Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

Hazelwood House is a home located in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities, behaviours that may challenge, restricted mobility, hearing impairments, emotional needs and epilepsy. The dedicated team support people to maintain their independence as much as possible and encourage everyone to participate in daily activities that increase their skills and confidence.

The well trained team are committed to providing person-centred care based on people’s preferences and wishes ensuring people have maximum choice and control over their lives. They know people well and have built trusting and meaningful relationships with each person.

Community participation and involvement are actively encouraged through person-centred planning to meet individual goals and aspirations, which keep people safe and happy. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that everyone enjoys the highest quality of life, being supported and encouraged in every aspect of their lives. Support is given to encourage people to arrange their own appointments, make decisions and attend reviews relating to their own health. Everyone is supported to register with a GP and Dentist, along with other specialist services where necessary.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

Hazelwood House has 11 bedrooms with two shared bathrooms and a shower room on the ground-floor. There are also communal areas where people enjoy socialising with others, including a dining room, lounge area and a fully-equipped kitchen.

The rear large garden plays host to a lot of leisure activities and events during the summer and boasts a summer house.

The home has its own vehicle, so people can easily arrange and enjoy a variety of leisure activities and day trips.

Hazelwood is located in East Cowes, with a bus stop, local shops, town centre, parks, beaches and restaurants, all just a short trip down the road.

Lifestyle

At Hazelwood, people are supported to take part in any activities they wish to, including gardening, day centre activities, exercise classes, swimming, walks in the countryside, bowling and many more.

People exercise their choice regularly deciding whether evening are spent in their local social clubs or pubs. Everyone is encouraged to take an annual holiday and day trips, with some enjoying local attractions such as the zoo, circus and monkey world, to name a few.
