About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Fosse Bank House is a specialist residential home, without nursing, in Blackburn that can support up to eight adults. The people we support are deaf, deafblind or have hearing loss, with additional complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities.

Everyone who lives at Fosse Bank is supported to live life the way they want, with a support package designed around their individual needs and goals. We support each person at their own pace.

Choice, control, dignity and independence are key to living here. The people we support are fully involved in developing their support plans. We communicate with them in the way they prefer, and we support them through positive risk-taking to get the most from every day.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Fosse Bank House is a warm and welcoming home four miles from the centre of Blackburn. We’re close to handy local shops as well as the community centre, and there are good transport links to Blackburn and other towns in the local area.

Fosse Bank House has eight comfortable and beautifully presented self-contained flats, each with a bathroom, kitchen and living area. This means that the people we support can develop their independent living skills at their own pace and with the support of the team.

The home also has shared kitchen, dining and lounge facilities so people can cook, eat and socialise together if they wish. And outside, the home’s large, peaceful garden has a patio and seating area, which is perfect for relaxing and chatting together on warm days. Many people like to lend a hand to grow flowers, fruit and veg too.

Lifestyle

The team at Fosse Bank House actively supports each person to do tasks as independently as possible, in the way they want and are able to control. The team supports each person to create their own care and support plan, which explains what’s important to them and how they want to live their life. The team then supports the person to make this happen.

The people we support are enabled to make healthy lifestyle choices, to develop their cooking and budgeting skills, manage their medicines, develop social skills and even find a rewarding job if they wish.

Fosse Bank House is a home where everyone plays their part so people can help with the recruitment of new team members. They make decisions about the running of the home, the décor, the social activities we organise and where to go on holiday.
