About this home

Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

Dane End is a specialist residential home in Westgate-on-Sea, Kent, that provides 24-hour care and support to five adults who are d/Deaf or have hearing loss. People we support have a range of diverse additional support needs, including autism spectrum conditions, epilepsy, learning difficulties, sight loss and mental health needs.

Our person-centred support focuses on providing personalised care for each person, focusing on their aims, needs and interests and how they want to live their life. We empower people to be independent, reach their full potential and live a safe, happy and healthy life.

Facilities

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

Dane End is a detached two-storey house with five bedrooms. There’s a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the home with open-plan shared areas, ideal for socialising. Artwork by people we support hangs on the walls, and there are sea views from the top of the house – as we’re only a minute’s walk from the beach and esplanade.

Each of the bedrooms is large and bright, and people we support can decorate them however they wish. At the back of the house is a good-sized shared garden, perfect for summer parties and barbeques.

Dane End is close to shops, restaurants and a cinema, as well as Westgate’s lovely sandy beaches. The railway station has frequent trains to London Victoria and London St Pancras, and there’s a good bus service to Margate and the rest of Thanet, as well as the historic city of Canterbury.

Lifestyle

Living at Dane End is all about choice, comfort, fun and independent living. We work with each person we support, their family and wider circle of support to learn about what’s important to them, how they want to live their life and what they’d like to achieve.

We then empower each person to achieve their goals, helping them to gain social skills, make healthy lifestyle choices, manage medicines and learn new skills. If a person wants to join a group in the local community or find a job, we’ll support them to do that too.

We believe every person should be involved in making decisions about their support. We use a range of communication techniques, including British Sign Language, and develop a personalised strategy for and with each person we support. We’re focused on continuous improvement, and the people we support play a part in helping us to improve our support.
