Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

Cornerleigh is a 24-hour residential home supporting adults with moderate learning disabilities, behaviour that may challenge, acquired brain injuries and/or physical disabilities.

The home uses a person-centred approach to support individuals to achieve their goals, participate in meaningful activities and build on their independence skills. People are supported to participate in weekly health and safety, fire and first aid checks, as well as nightly security checks and keeping safe awareness. Additionally, there are road safety awareness and support programmes to enable greater independence in the community.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

Cornerleigh is a large, spacious Victorian House which has been modernised and extended. All bedrooms are decorated to the personal choices and preferences of the individuals. There is a large communal lounge and dining area so people can socialise with others if they wish. Additionally, there is a large garden and patio area where a lot of leisure activities take place, especially in the summer months.

Cornerleigh is situated near the town centre of Havant. The main bus routes to Havant, Emsworth and Portsmouth are close by, as well as a train station 5 minutes walking from the service.

Lifestyle

At Cornerleigh, we offer support to attend activities and voluntary employment placements. One person volunteers at a group called Friends of Hermitage Stream every Thursday, where they go all over Leigh Park helping to clear areas and tidy places up so they look nicer and people can visit or walk their dogs. This is a great step towards independence and has allowed the individual to meet a lot of new people.

Cornerleigh is an active home with many activities and events for people to get involved in. Recently, the service teamed up with another nearby service, Lambourne House, in a car wash, raising money for the charity Shelter, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

The service had a visit from Wild Science, an external zoo company, where people got to meet a wide range of animals and learn about them. Some people were even brave enough to hold a snake for a few seconds, whilst others preferred the smaller fluffy animals.

People are also encouraged to go on day trips and holidays, such as the annual holiday to Bunn Leisure in Selsey, where individuals can enjoy the coast and multiple amusement arcades.
