Chief Operations Officer Sam Collier stars in the ‘My Duvet Flip’ podcast
Our Chief Operations Officer, Sam Collier, recently joined Jackson Parsons on the ‘My Duvet Flip’ podcast, UK’s leading career show inspiring millions to flip their duvet in the morning.
Sam, who has worked in social care for over 20 years, covered multiple topics throughout the episode, paying close attention to the benefits of working in social care, both professionally and personally.
A recent government review revealed that, “nearly one million young people aged 16 to 24 in the United Kingdom are not in education, employment or training. One in 8 young people.” Sam’s interview on the podcast encourages young people to start a career in social care, not just for professional skills and experience, but for the opportunity to develop personally. Sam shared that many of the skills he has today, such as maintaining the home or managing budgets, have come from his time as a Support Worker at the beginning of his career.
There are plenty of options when it comes to starting out in social care, as Sam and Jackson discuss on the podcast, including getting your foot in the door with an apprenticeship, or starting as a Support Worker and climbing the ladder. Recognised as Financial Times top 500 employers for both 2025 and 2026, Achieve together supports individuals to begin their meaningful social care career in an engaging and inclusive environment.
In the podcast Sam shares that, “working in social care is an opportunity to grow as a human. If you’re starting your career, trying to work out adulthood and don’t know where to go – get a job in social care. There’s plenty of jobs available, you’ll learn life skills and find purpose every day.”
