This is an exceptional achievement for the home that had previously been rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ and meets one of Achieve together’s organisational goals – to have consistently  Good homes across its portfolio.

Woodbridge House supports adults with learning disabilities or autistic people. Some people we support living there also have dementia and physical disabilities.

The CQC praised the home for ensuring that people we support are supported by a consistent team who know them well and understand their safeguarding responsibilities.

The CQC also commented that team members are passionate about ensuring people have choice and control of their lives.

A relative of a person supported at Woodbridge House said:

“The team consistently does what’s right for each individual. In any setting like this, some people will be more independent, while others need greater levels of support. They aren’t treated the same – because they aren’t the same.”

Other highlights from the inspection include:

  • There is a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty that aligns with our ‘safety first’ priority.
  • Team members concentrate on improving the lives of people we support while protecting their right to live in safety, free from bullying, harassment, abuse, discrimination, avoidable harm and neglect.
  • Team members provide care to meet people’s needs that is safe, supportive and enables people to do the things that matter to them.
  • The home is well – led with an open and honest culture
