We’re finalists in the Nursing Times Awards 

The Nursing Times Awards, taking place at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London, on Thursday 29 October, celebrate individuals who are making nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive. 

The ‘Learning Disabilities Nursing’ award recognises learning disability nurses or teams who lead outstanding, person-centred and evidence-based work to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. It celebrates initiatives that tackle inequalities, promote inclusion, and empower people with learning disabilities to have greater choice, independence and involvement in shaping their care. 

Registered Learning Disability Nurse Michael Fullerton, our Director of Wellbeing, Strategy & Collaboration, has been recognised for championing co-production. His development of Campaign 4 Change and Unity has created paid, meaningful roles for people we support, building confidence and enabling people to influence change locally and nationally. With over 60 people employed in these roles, the quality of support across the organisation has improved.  

The embedding of co-production and self-advocacy within the organisation means that people we support are actively shaping strategy, services and decision-making, contributing across key areas such as recruitment, quality, safeguarding, health and communications.  

On being named a finalist, Michael shared, “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised as finalists in the Nursing Times Awards. This nomination reflects the passion, innovation and dedication of our approach to co-production across Achieve together, who work every day to ensure people with learning disabilities are at the heart of everything we do. Being recognised in this way is a powerful acknowledgment of that shared commitment to inclusion, equity and high-quality, person-centred support.”
