Cherrycroft Team praised for transforming John’s life with compassionate support
At Achieve together, we celebrate the unwavering commitment of our team members, who go above and beyond to make a positive impact on the lives of the people we support. Recently, Cherrycroft, one of our residential homes, in Southend-on-Sea, received heartfelt recognition from the family of John Ponder, who shared their story of gratitude and admiration for the exceptional support John has received.
John, who lives at Cherrycroft, faced a challenging year as he lost nearly all his eyesight due to cataracts in both eyes. Once able to enjoy his favourite activities such as playing darts, watching DVDs, and looking through cherished family photos, John’s sudden loss of sight changed his life drastically. Unable to see his food, he even struggled to feed himself. Throughout this difficult time, the dedicated team at Cherrycroft provided relentless support and guidance, helping John adapt to these life-altering changes with compassion and understanding.
In a remarkable turn of events, John recently underwent successful double cataract surgery, regaining nearly all his eyesight. Stacy Grant, John’s sister, shared her joy and appreciation for the Cherrycroft team:
“The team at Cherrycroft did an amazing job helping John adjust to his new reality when he couldn’t see. They showed him so much love and care. Since the operation, seeing John light up as he rediscovers his favourite activities and sees his family and carers again has been wonderful. We cannot thank the team enough for their unwavering dedication and kindness.”
Cherrycroft, rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), is known for its warm, supportive environment and highly skilled team members who are passionate about delivering person-centred care. The recent CQC inspection praised Cherrycroft’s commitment to creating a nurturing and respectful atmosphere, and this latest story further exemplifies the positive difference our teams make every day.
