Dean has worked in health and social care since he was 18, originally working with children and young adults in a specialist school. Since then, he has worked in all areas of social care and in a variety of operational roles from support worker, home manager, regional manager, and now plays a key role for Achieve together as Director of Operations across London and Surrey.

Working at the school was really insightful for me. It supported me to understand the needs of people with learning disabilities and complex needs. It taught me the foundations on how to support people to become independent and the importance of working collaboratively with other professionals, families and relatives to give the best possible support for the individual.

When I moved into residential care, I worked supporting teenagers to transition from school into being young adults and developing their skills to live independently. This is what has motivated me to continue to work in health and social care.

It’s fantastic to see how much fun people we support can have and the fun they share with their support workers. My drive is to ensure that every person we support lives in a good home and has opportunities to have a good quality of life.

Back to meet the team.
