Meet Glynn: Arts, crafts and independence
Glynn has been supported from a young age, with care tailored to his individual needs to help him feel safe, secure, and understood. After moving into Addington Road, the team focused on supporting Glynn to feel confident and safe within his surroundings, particularly when he wished to leave unexpectedly. They built a trusting relationship through open communication, consistent support, and a safe environment that encouraged independence and wellbeing
First Steps

The team provides Glynn with consistent support and reassuring routines, helping him feel settled and secure. They adapted their approach to reflect his mood, communication style, and emotions, ensuring he always felt understood. When Glynn wanted to leave his home, the team offered additional support and regularly reviewed strategies to keep his care person-centred and effective.
Through person-centred planning, the team developed a strong understanding of Glynn’s likes, goals, and wishes. By promoting choice, building positive relationships, and shaping support around his interests, Glynn has continued to grow in confidence and feel secure within his home.
Ongoing Support
As Glynn’s mobility and motor skills have changed, his support has been adapted with a greater focus on safety, comfort, and maintaining his quality of life. Glynn’s personality remains strong and valued, and his support continues to reflect who he is as an individual. The team prioritise his choices, respects his routines, and encourages the activities he enjoys. This includes supporting his love of the universe and wildlife through creative activities, such as painting the planets and helping him create his own bug hotel, which sits proudly on his balcony. Glynn also enjoyed visiting the RAF museum and KFC recently, where he was able to pay with his own card and was encouraged to use the touch screen to make his choices.
Glynn’s Progress
Glynn has made meaningful progress since moving to Addington Road. He is more settled, confident, and trusting within his home environment, and he is engaging positively in daily routines and activities he enjoys.
He now takes part in trips to the zoo and farm, where he enjoys seeing and petting the animals, and goes shopping with the team, taking his time to choose new clothes. Glynn is also becoming more involved in everyday choices, including having a say in the foods he would like to eat.
He enjoys going to the park, using the bucket swing, and being supported over the ramps at the skate park. On a quieter day, Glyn loves a trip to the museum or the local library.
Looking to the future

Looking ahead, Glynn’s support will continue to grow and adapt around him, ensuring his needs are met in a thoughtful and person-centred way. His comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life will always remain at the heart of everything. Most importantly, the focus will stay on what Glynn wants and enjoys.
Future plans, including a hot air balloon experience and a holiday, are currently being explored to help make his wishes a reality. Glynn would also like to continue visiting new museums, especially one with a space theme, giving him more opportunities to enjoy his interests and look forward to new making new ones.
