More about our approach to quality and safeguardingAbout this support setting
Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Westcliffe Villa is a specialist residential home in Westgate-on-Sea, Kent. We provide 24-hour care and support to 13 adults who are deaf, deafblind, or have hearing loss. People we support have a range of additional and sometimes complex needs, including learning disabilities, mental ill-health, autistic spectrum disorders, behaviour that can be described as challenging, and medical needs, including specialised diets.
Our experienced and passionate team is fully BSL trained and is determined to empower people we support as much as possible for themselves, developing their confidence and experiencing life to the full.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Westcliffe Villa is a large four-storey detached house that overlooks the coastline, with a large garden and a mixture of single bedrooms and flats:
- The ground floor has two self-contained flats, each with two bedrooms.
- The first and second floors are split into female and male accommodation. Each floor has four bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, plus a separate office/bedroom and bathroom for the support team.
- On the ground, first and second floors, there is a communal lounge and kitchen.
- The third floor has three self-contained flats – two for people to live more independently and the other for the support team for sleep-in nights.
Westcliffe Villa is close to shops, restaurants, a cinema, and the railway station, as well as beautiful sandy beaches. There’s a good bus service into Margate and Canterbury and train links to London St Pancras and London Victoria.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
Our team is passionate about promoting choice and independence and empowering people to do things for themselves. People are supported to decorate their rooms in the way they want. For example, someone who’s deafblind has different textures on their bedroom walls so they can better experience their environment.
We use a range of techniques to communicate with people and work in their preferred way. We work closely with people we support, particularly those who are deafblind, so they can do far more for themselves than they thought possible – getting washed and dressed and eating fully independently. People also help to clean their rooms, go food shopping, enjoy swimming and other sports, and take trips and holidays.
There’s a strong and caring relationship between everyone at Westcliffe Villa, and we work closely with specialist healthcare practitioners to ensure people are happy and healthy.
