More about our approach to quality and safeguardingAbout this support setting
Thoughtfully designed for independent living
West Dean is a fine late Victorian property that enjoys an excellent elevated position, giving stunning panoramic views over Lincoln and providing residential support and accommodation for sixteen adults with mild learning disabilities and/or mental health needs.
People we support require support with a wide range of complex needs. We support people to live the lives they want. We provide this support with compassion and empathy, helping them achieve their individual goals and ambitions with the dignity and respect they deserve.
West Dean, an important resource for Lincoln, offers those who have or are struggling to cope with everyday life the opportunity to experience understanding, an empathetic and non-judgmental environment, and develop towards independence through taking advantage of the support and advice that we provide.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Situated only a few hundred yards from the town centre, the home gives people we support access to all the amenities that the busy town centre provides. The home has sixteen bedrooms – two en-suite – and the house has a homely feel.
There are a variety of good-sized communal areas, as well as a private garden area for people to enjoy at their leisure. As well as providing high-quality facilities, the home also has a varied activity programme driven by the choices and preferences of those we support.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
The fun community atmosphere within the home reflects our positive ethos of social integration, independence, enablement, and the development of new life skills.
This community can be a long-term choice for some, or it can be seen as a staging post leading to greater independence, offering a rehabilitation care package with life skills support. Ultimately, we encourage people we support to aspire to independent living within the community.
We warmly welcome families and friends and encourage their interaction by always having an open house policy. Part of assisting rehabilitation is supporting and enabling the normalisation of relationships outside of those we support to develop within the home.
Our support structure is underpinned by a programme of continuous team training and development, which enables us to provide high-quality person-centred care packages tailored to the differing needs of every person in our care.
To further strengthen our support, we have developed strong links with the local Community Mental Health Team and other external services, working with these various organisations to maximise the health and wellbeing of people we support.
