About this home

Vallance Gardens is a residential home for adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), sensory impairments and complex health needs, including epilepsy. It is a new specialist home that provides 24 hours of support to individuals, supporting them to live as independently as possible and to take part in meaningful activities.

The support team use a range of communication tools and resources to ensure support is individually tailored to maximise expressive and receptive communication. Teams use intensive and sensory interaction to support a person’s ability to communicate and gain control over their environment. We also aim to provide assessment and support from Speech and Language Therapists.

What we offer

The recently refurbished home has seven bedrooms across two floors with fully accessible wet rooms and bathrooms. There is a large communal area for individuals to socialise with others, including an open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen. There is a large garden where a lot of leisure and social activities take place, especially during the summer.

A lift allows access to all levels, and the environment is fully adapted with ceiling tracking in the bedrooms and bathrooms where there is an assessed need for hoists. The home has its own vehicle, so day trips to surrounding areas are possible. There is also access to the local indoor hydrotherapy pool and Resource Centre.

The property is situated in Hove, close to the lively and active centre and also close to the seafront. The home is a short bus ride into Brighton town centre, where a wide range of local community facilities can be accessed. Brighton and Hove’s stations have excellent train links to central London and nearby coastal towns. The home is in close proximity to the A23 and A27.

Lifestyle

People get on well together here and enjoy taking part in a variety of activities together as a group or as individuals. The ladies and gentlemen come together in the evening time to share dinner together and enjoy each other’s company. The home could be described as a very busy, lively and bubbly environment.

At Vallance Gardens, people are supported to live active lives and can take part in a wide range of social and leisure activities. This includes activities in the local community such as visiting the cinema, using the local hydro-pool, gym sessions and use of local day centres.

The home also takes people on day trips, such as visiting the football stadium, trips to the beach and walks in the park.

The close proximity to Brighton’s seafront means that people can enjoy all the facilities Brighton has to offer, such as the various shops, restaurants and the pier, to name a few.
