What we offer

A safe and supportive place

The home is an attractive and spacious 1950s semi-detached property with a private rear garden. It is within walking distance of the town centre with easy access to local colleges and transport.

The home is separated into two self-contained flats with an adjoining door. They comprise of three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and separate toilet. People who live at the home are encouraged to personalise their rooms and decorate them how they prefer.

A one-bedroom flat with its own facilities has been built onto the main house to enable young people currently living at the home to make the transition to move to more independent living. There is also a large outside area where plenty of activities take place in the summer.

Lifestyle

This is home to six people who have lived at this home for between four and ten years.

Everyone gets on well, with some preferring to socialise more than others, and friendship groups have been built. People are supported to participate in activities that promote increased independence. Paid and voluntary work is greatly encouraged, with many people in long-term work placements. There are also leisure activities within the home and the wider community, such as arts and crafts, day trips, meals out and cinema trips.

Expression is a very important element of the support provided at this home, and people are encouraged to do so in a way that both expresses their individualism and respects others.
