About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Welcome to our specialised home in Ashtead, designed to support adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) as well as those with restricted mobility and complex health needs, including Gastrostomy and/or epilepsy.

Our dedicated team members are available round-the-clock and have undergone specialised training accredited by the National Open College Network to better understand the needs of individuals with PMLD. Additionally, they have received training in “Intensive Interaction” from external communication specialists “Us in a Bus.”

Committed to providing individualised support, our highly-trained team members prioritise treating each person as a unique person. Our support approach is person-centered, promoting independence, dignity, and respect at all times. We strive to create an environment where every tenant feels a sense of belonging and safety, ensuring they know they matter.

In collaboration with people support, our teams develop person-centered documents and “touch plans.” Recognising the importance of touch in providing sensitive and high-quality care, these plans aim to support natural interactions and enhance the well-being of those we support.

Lifestyle

People supported at our home are supported to have enriching experiences that prioritise their well-being and sense of security. Our highly skilled support team understand the significance of the “little things” that contribute to people supported feeling empowered and in control of their lives. We work closely with people supported to set goals that align with their long-term hopes and dreams.

People supported benefit from various activities and opportunities designed to enhance their quality of life. This includes weekly visits from an aromatherapist, participation in a book club, and interactive sessions led by “Us in a Bus.” Additionally, people supported enjoy outings to West End theaters, visits to local country parks such as Kew Gardens, and attending light shows.

Some of the people supported also engage in meaningful work with local charities like the Sunny Bank Trust, which supports individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities. These activities include accessing holidays, advocacy services, and participating in events such as performance shows, social clubs, and gardening sessions.

Furthermore, people are supported with in-house activities aimed at developing important daily living skills. Our team members provide hand-over-hand support to enable residents to actively engage in the running of their home, fostering a sense of independence and autonomy.
