Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Smitham Downs is a 24-hour residential home for adults with autism spectrum conditions, moderate learning disabilities, severe learning disabilities, complex needs including behaviours that may challenge and Epilepsy.
The home aims to create a low arousal and structured environment with a highly visual embedded and total communication culture. People are supported through a person-centred planning approach tailored towards individual needs and focused on positive outcomes. Individuals are supported to be as independent as possible and to take part in meaningful activities that enrich their lives and build on skills.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Smitham Downs Road has six individual bedrooms in the main house and one in a self-contained annexe. The home has been designed with input from our autism-qualified Psychologist. The environment is autism friendly in terms of layout, facilities, decor and furnishings. Individuals can access communal space, including a large kitchen, lounge, dining room, sensory room, laundry room and large sensory garden.
The property is a large detached house situated in Purley, South London. The home is a short walk from a wide range of community facilities, and there are good train and bus links into Central London and nearby Croydon and Sutton.

Lifestyle
At Smitham Downs, people are supported to lead active lives and take part in a range of leisure activities both within the home and within the community.
Some activities people are involved in include ‘Us in a bus’, gardening, cinema trips, bowling, cycling, arts and crafts, evening trips to the pub and various clubs.
People are also supported in developing life skills with a view to increasing independence, including meal preparation, grocery shopping, self-care and budgeting.
