About this home

Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living

Ransdale House is a specialist residential home, without nursing, in Middlesbrough that provides 24-hour support to five adults. People we support are d/Deaf, deafblind, or have hearing loss. They may also have additional complex needs, including learning and physical disabilities, mental ill-health and behaviour that could be described as challenging.

Ransdale House is a warm and friendly home where every person we support has the opportunity to live the life they want, with a support package designed around their individual needs. They also play an active part in the running of Ransdale House, meeting regularly to provide the team with feedback, to help plan menus and make decisions about activities they’d like to do and holidays they’d like to take.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place to call home

Our Middlesbrough home has five bedrooms with shared bathroom and shower facilities. There’s also a ground-floor bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Our lounge is a fun and welcoming space, with an aquarium, comfortable sofas, a widescreen TV (with Sky), a DVD player and a games console.

There’s also a dining area and a conservatory that’s used for creative activities and playing games. Our spacious modern kitchen, complete with some low-level work surfaces, makes it wheelchair-accessible: people like to help with preparing meals and developing their cookery skills.

Ransdale House is on the outskirts of Middlesbrough. There are shops and other local amenities nearby, and the home is close to parks and countryside. Other cities, including Newcastle and York, are easy to get to, as are the coastal towns and villages of the North East.

Lifestyle

The team at Ransdale House takes an ‘active support’ approach. That means they empower and enable the people they support to carry out tasks as independently as possible, in the way that person wants and can control.

The team tailors the communication technique they use to the preference of the individual and promotes positive risk-taking so there are as few barriers as possible to each person achieving their goals and developing their confidence.

People at Ransdale House are supported to develop their daily living skills, from cooking and budgeting to managing their medications and getting involved in the local community. We also work with people we support, their families, support networks and healthcare professionals to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live a happy, safe and healthy life.
