More about our approach to quality and safeguardingAbout this home
Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living
Huguenot Place is a specialist residential home, without nursing in Wandsworth, in South West London. Our team provides 24-hour support to five deaf or deafblind adults. People we support may have complex needs, including learning and physical disabilities, mental ill-health and low emotional confidence.
We learn all we can about people we support, including their likes and dislikes, the way they like to communicate, and their goals. We then support them to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to live more independently. Nurturing people’s health and wellbeing is key, and we support people to make healthy lifestyle choices, explore social and leisure interests and make new friends so their lives are happy and fulfilling.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place to call home
Huguenot Place is a three-storey house with five bedrooms. Each has a washbasin, and there are shared bathrooms on the first and second floors. There’s a spacious and light lounge, an open-plan kitchen/dining area and a laundry room.
Our small courtyard garden has pretty window boxes, hanging baskets and a seating area, and everyone lends a hand to keep it looking good.
The home is close to local shops and is only a 20-minute walk from Clapham. There are great bus links, and Clapham Junction station provides connections to central London and national rail services.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
Living at Huguenot Place is all about choice, independence, respect and dignity. Our team believes that there should be no limit to a person’s potential just because they are deaf or have a hearing loss. Whatever a person’s goals, we’ll support them to achieve them, from empowering a person to develop their cooking skills to enhancing their social skills or even finding a job.
Our team encourages people we support to play an active part in making decisions about the home and home life. Everyone helps with cooking and keeping the house clean and tidy.
What’s more, they run a Deaf Club with people from another Achieve together home nearby. People at our home are welcome to join the club, which is also open to deaf people from the local community. Members enjoy lots of different outings and activities together and love making new friends.
