About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Situated in the attractive Derbyshire market town of Ilkeston, this lovely home consists of two bungalows situated side by side. These purpose-built homes allow for support to be provided for up to ten adults with profound learning and physical disabilities from the age of eighteen years upwards. The homes are in a predominantly residential part of the town and have the Derbyshire countryside on their doorstep.

Delivering person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do. Family involvement is actively encouraged, as is developing close and lasting relationships with relatives. Offering a very high standard of care and support, our experienced and committed team do everything they can to make the lives of the people we support as rich and fulfilling as possible.

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Both houses have bedrooms that are individually decorated to reflect the personality and choices of each person we support. The homes also have large and airy communal areas, including lounges and a dining room.

People supported from both houses also have access to a sensory room that allows them to experience a range of tactile and visual stimuli. At the rear of the home is a large, secure patio area with decking and a sensory garden consisting of raised beds, which allows individuals to maintain their own fruit and vegetables.

We all focus on creating an environment which enables people to be as creative as possible and aids them in carrying out day-to-day tasks that promote independence, confidence, and self-worth.

Lifestyle

Activities are crucial to the wellbeing of those supported, and we ensure everyone enjoys a rich and fulfilling life. We undertake a wide range of activities providing stimulation and interest for everyone. As well as activities within the home, we also regularly organise trips out, promoting independence and sourcing external activities and courses which particularly benefit those more able-bodied.

Encouraging independence through the garden at Coppice and Oakside, people are encouraged to develop the land available at the home by growing their own food. We have a greenhouse so that vegetables can be grown from seed, and our team are very supportive in enabling the best possible growing results.

An important part of our care is the annual holiday that everyone enjoys, either on a one-to-one basis with a support worker or with friends. We want people we support to enjoy a holiday that is personal to them and reflects their likes and dislikes as completely as possible.
