Thoughtfully designed for independent living
Cherrycroft is a 24-hour residential home supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, complex needs, epilepsy and mental health needs.
Cherrycroft works to encourage and develop each person’s independence and autonomy within a group living setting. The importance of effective communication is central to the support provided to every person. We strive to support our residents to participate in and plan a wide range of meaningful activities, building their role within their wider community.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place
Cherrycroft is a large detached house which has four ground-floor bedrooms, five first-floor bedrooms and a self-contained flat at the top of the house. All bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom or walk-in shower. There is lift access to all floors.
There are communal areas for individuals to socialise with others, including a lounge that opens up into a dining area, a well-equipped kitchen and a smaller lounge area. The garden has recently been redesigned and now has a log cabin, which is used as a sensory room.
Cherrycroft is close to the Westcliff seafront and a local shopping parade, which has a variety of resources within easy travelling distance.
We’re not just participants. We’re planners, presenters, and leaders.

Lifestyle
People at Cherrycroft are supported to lead very active lives and can take part in a wide range of activities tailored around individuals’ likes and dislikes. People have taken part in activities such as horse riding, swimming, cinema, theatre trips, gym sessions, trips to the seaside, arcades and visits to the cockle sheds on the seafront.
A new activity that has recently been introduced is an inclusive cycling group that provides a range of cycles for all levels of need in a safe environment. The activity takes place at the Garon leisure facility in Southend. Participants are able to try out cycling around the running track so there are no interruptions from pedestrians or traffic.
Additionally, there are regular events at the service, such as the annual summer BBQ and picnic, which raises money for YoungMinds. Everyone helped put up bunting, balloons and decorations around the garden and had a great time.
