About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Addington Road offers highly skilled support to adults in four self-contained flats. People living at Addington Road benefit from living independently, with access to high levels of 24 hour support including waking night support.

The team are skilled at supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults with additional complex needs. These complex needs may include distressed behaviours, behaviours regarded as challenging, secondary mental health conditions, sensory processing differences, communication difficulties and people who may present with significant social anxieties.

The strong and stable support team focus primarily on the development of trusting relationships, providing consistent and predictable support.

The team are proud of their success at supporting people who lived previously in secure settings, moving in as part of the Transforming Care Programme and have since moved on to more independent living with less paid support.

Lifestyle

People living at Addington Road benefit from a proactive and creative support team, supporting people to maximise engagement in the local community, being meaningfully occupied, tapping in to individual interests. Through adoption of a Positive Behaviour Support Framework, and the SPELL Principles, the team focus on maximising quality of life, minimising restrictive practices and equipping people living here to manage stress and anxiety in safe and positive ways.

Active Support strategies ensure an emphasis on empowerment and maximising independence.

The team work closely in partnership with families, local health teams and internal Positive Behaviour Support and Health Teams to coproduce support, health and risk plans tailored for the person to benefit from an ‘ordinary life’.
