The nominations for Cerys speak of her unfailing support both for people she supports and team members at the residential home. A great role model, she has encouraged and developed team members to achieve promotion and confidence in their roles. Cerys’s warm welcome, her enduring positivity and smile face are all noticed and very much appreciated.
Despite her own health challenges, Cerys has taken on the duties of Deputy Manager alongside her Practice Lead role, proving to be an inspiration to others.
One wrote: “Whenever I have a problem, it’s always sorted. She’s an amazing person and support work senior, and everyone loves her.”
Another is full of admiration. “She is a walking talking superhero. She doesn’t let anything get in her way!”
Cerys said: “I feel so unbelievably grateful to be nominated for this award. It has made me feel so appreciated in my role. Thank you so much for the nominations and the lovely words written; reading them completely made my year.
“I absolutely love my job and I’m so glad that people think this is reflected in my work. I’m so lucky to have such thoughtful and caring co-workers and I can now finally plan a little break away for myself and my partner. So, thank you Holly, Sharon and Achieve together for giving me the chance to go away on my first holiday in over a decade!”
Runners Up
Competition was fierce for this award and three people were chosen as runners up. Chelsea Baker is a Support Worker at a supported living home in Manchester. Andy Killick is a Maintenance Co-ordinator in the Estates Team covering the West. Simon Reilly is a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner in the Health & Wellbeing Team. Well done to this deserving trio.
Recently, Chelsea gave everyone at her home a lift during a difficult time. After ordering groceries, she made a two-course meal to bring the house together. “Everyone sat down together, ate, talked and laughed. It was just so lovely to see how much she cared,” wrote the team member who nominated her.
After just seven weeks in his maintenance role, Andy’s line manager nominated him for Employee of the Month for numerous positive attributes including his motivation and hard work.
Simon was nominated by a grateful Home Manager, who said: “Simon is a fantastic support, providing ideas and reassurances. Nothing is too much bother. He always works in a person-centred way for people we support and is on hand to provide support to team members.”
Well done to everyone who was nominated for Employee of the Month in 2023. The winners from each month will be entered for the Heroes Awards Employee of the Year Award – watch this space to find out who is on the shortlist.
