Celebrating Ty Golff’s Excellent Care Inspectorate Wales Rating 

Ty Golff is one of our residential homes, providing supportive independent living for people with learning disabilities, autism and other neurodivergent conditions. The home opened in January 2025 and is a warm and welcoming place, where people supported and their families are actively involved in every step of person-centred planning. 

Registered Manager Matthew Thomas shared, “To receive the highest possible outcome during such a significant period of change and development is something I could not be prouder of. This recognition represents the compassion, consistency, resilience, and dedication shown every single day by an incredible team who genuinely care about the people we support. I want to personally thank every team member for the commitment, professionalism, and heart they bring into the home each day.”

• Clear evidence of robust procedures in place to safeguard individuals

• Care is provided in a person-centres manner that reflects individual needs 

The summary highlights that the home provides an environment where people are protected and supported to stay healthy. The combination of effective safeguarding practices, person-centred care, and a well-adapted environment ensures that wellbeing is promoted across all areas. 

Care & Support 

• Clear evidence that people receive consistent, high-quality support to achieve their personal outcomes 

• Safeguarding practises are well embedded in daily routines  

• People are supported in a safe, well-managed environment where risk is balanced with promoting choice and independence 

• Medication is safely managed  

Care and support at Ty Golff are well coordinated, responsive and focused on achieving meaningful outcomes. The skilled and consistent team, alongside clear guidance and strong oversight, ensures people are supported to live safely, maintain their wellbeing, and experience a high quality of life. 

Environment  

• The home is well maintained throughout, with appropriate facilities and equipment in place to meet the assessed needs of individuals 

• The environment is clean, comfortable and homely, contributing to a settled and positive atmosphere 

• Communal areas within the home are well organised and support both social interaction and individual choice 

• Environmental adaptations across the service are carefully considered to balance safety with promoting independence 

Overall, the environment at Ty Golff is thoughtfully designed, well maintained and highly personalised. It provides safe, suitable and comfortable surroundings that support individuals’ wellbeing, independence and daily living, contributing to excellent outcomes and a high quality of life. 

Leadership & Management 

• Leadership and management are of an excellent standard 

• There is a culture of openness, providing assurance to team members  

• Team members are appropriately skils, trained and supported to meet the needs of people living at Ty Golff 

• Team member morale is positive, and there is a strong team culture  

Overall, strong leadership, effective governance and a skilled workforce ensure that people are safe, well supported and enabled to achieve their personal outcomes, resulting in a high quality of care and support at Ty Golff. 

Head of Area Operations, Gwenda Williams shared, “Achieving an ‘Excellent’ rating across all areas in Ty Golff’s very first inspection is a fantastic accomplishment and a real reflection of the team’s commitment to providing truly person-centred support. I’m incredibly proud of what has been created at Ty Golff and the positive impact this has on people we support and their families every day.” 

Operations Director Rachael Hawkins added, “This report is a testament to the strength of leadership, culture and teamwork at Ty Golff. Achieving ‘Excellent’ in every area demonstrates not only strong governance and high standards, but also a culture of openness, accountability and genuine care.
