Celebrating significant improvements at Glencourt
We’re pleased to share that Glencourt, our residential home in Caerphilly, is celebrating after achieving Good ratings across all four inspection themes following its latest Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) inspection.
Glencourt supports people with learning disabilities and people with mental health support needs to live as independently as possible and achieved Good ratings for Wellbeing, Care & Support, Environment, and Leadership & Management.
The result reflects significant improvements made across the home since its previous inspection. Inspectors recognised the commitment, dedication and hard work of leaders and team members, highlighting positive changes across every area of the service.
Importantly, the inspection confirmed that concerns which previously led to two Priority Action Notices have been addressed, and both notices have now been removed as a result.
Putting people at the centre
Inspectors praised Glencourt’s increasingly person-centred approach, recognising improvements to support plans, which are now more detailed, outcome-focused and tailored to each person’s individual needs, preferences, goals and aspirations.
People are actively involved in developing and reviewing their plans wherever possible, helping to ensure they remain at the centre of decisions about their lives.
The report also highlighted the positive culture within the home. Team members were recognised for their understanding of people’s needs and their commitment to promoting choice, participation and independence. Inspectors observed warm, positive interactions and a relaxed atmosphere throughout the home.
CIW also recognised significant improvements to safeguarding arrangements, risk management processes and quality assurance systems. The report highlighted how people are supported to live healthy, safe and meaningful lives while maintaining as much independence and control as possible.
Creating more opportunities
Inspectors praised investment in the home and improvements to accessibility, including the installation of a wheelchair-accessible ramp and more suitable transport.
These improvements are helping create greater opportunities for people to participate in community life, build connections and enjoy meaningful experiences that support their wellbeing.
