Achieve together’s Michael Fullerton receives prestigious Chief Nurse Adult Social Care Gold Award

We are incredibly proud to share that our Director of Wellbeing and Strategy, Michael Fullerton, has been awarded the Chief Nurse Adult Social Care Gold Award—one of the highest honours in the sector.

Presented by Deborah Sturdy, the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, the award recognises Michael’s outstanding dedication to nursing excellence, compassionate leadership, and the continuous improvement of adult social care. It reflects a remarkable career spent championing wellbeing, amplifying the voices of people we support, and embedding high standards of person-centred care.

Michael Fullerton said:

“I’m deeply honoured to receive this award. It reflects not only my journey as a proud learning disability nurse, but also the tireless efforts of colleagues across Achieve together who believe in the worth and potential of every person we support.”

Deborah Sturdy, Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, said:

“Michael’s compassionate, strategic, and collaborative approach models the very best of what nursing in social care can and should be. Widely respected by peers, colleagues, and the people he supports, Michael truly embodies the values behind the Chief Nurse Gold Award.”

Zoe Armstrong, Chief Care and Quality Officer at Achieve together, added:

“Michael’s leadership ensures that the people we support are not only central to their own care but are also heard at the highest levels of government. His impact on care quality, professional standards, and the national profile of learning disability nursing in social care is profound. He is a role model, a system-shaper, and a tireless advocate for those with the least voice.”

This prestigious award highlights the strength of nursing leadership within Achieve together and reinforces our mission: to support every individual to lead a happy, healthy, and meaningful life.
