About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

Thornton Gate is a specialist-supported living home in Cleveleys, Lancashire, for eight adults. People we support are deaf, deafblind or have hearing loss with additional complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities.

We provide housing-related support and domiciliary care to help people live independently within a safe and relaxed environment. Our team uses positive risk-taking to enhance independence and are on-site 24 hours a day to support residents. What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Thornton Gate is a purpose-built, supported living home situated beside the Cleveleys Beach promenade. The home has eight self-contained flats, two of which are wheelchair accessible, each with their own bathroom and kitchen.

We also have a communal lounge and a shared kitchen where people supported are able to cook and eat with others. There’s lift access throughout the home, plus a laundry room, and a lovely garden. A 10-minute walk from local shops, banks and a post office, Blackpool is just a short tram-ride away.

Lifestyle

Thornton Gate is a comfortable and welcoming home from home with a great atmosphere, where those supported and team members become like family. We support each person to create their own person-centred plan which describes what’s important to them and how they want their life to be, and the help they need to make this happen.

We empower the people we support with undertaking daily tasks as independently as possible, encouraging, prompting and supporting people in the right way for them.

One person supported shared, “The team are there when I need them. They’re brilliant.”

Choice, dignity and parity are all-important at Thornton Gate. People we support give their feedback and are listened to. They have a key role in shaping how support is provided, getting involved in recruiting new team members, choosing furniture and decorations and where to go on holiday.
