Thoughtfully designed homes for independent living
Elmswell was developed in collaboration with the local authority and commissioning groups to create purpose-built homes that align with the Transforming Care Agenda. This initiative aims to reduce hospital placements and enable individuals with higher support needs to live independently within the community.
At Elmswell, we provide specialist support for adults with borderline personality disorder, emotionally unstable personality disorder, autism spectrum conditions, and attachment disorders, ensuring a safe and structured environment that promotes stability and well-being.

What we offer
A safe and supportive place to call home
Each building at Elmswell features five self-contained apartments, each with its own front door, hallway, bedroom, bathroom, storage space, and open-plan living and dining area. Peoples supported also have access to shared spaces, including a communal living room, kitchen, dining area, and a sensory garden designed to encourage social interaction and personal development.

Elmswell benefits from excellent transport links, with mainline train stations providing direct access to Wakefield, Leeds, and Sheffield. A large local bus station also offers convenient routes to Hemsworth, Barnsley, and other nearby towns.
