Opening in its current iteration in 2025, The Third Space was created to support the wellbeing, independence and personal development of people supported by Achieve together across Sussex. Since reopening, it has become a valued community hub, providing opportunities for people to connect, learn new skills and enjoy activities in a fully accessible environment.

Now, we’re pleased to extend access to community groups, charities, support organisations and care providers across Brighton and Sussex.

Located on Dyke Road in Brighton, The Third Space features a newly renovated specialist hydrotherapy pool and a flexible activity space designed to support a wide range of wellbeing, learning and community activities.

The hydrotherapy pool recently reopened following extensive refurbishment works, helping to support physical wellbeing, mobility and relaxation. Alongside the pool, the activity space can be used for workshops, training sessions, support groups and inclusive community events.

The facility has been carefully designed to ensure people of all abilities feel welcome, comfortable and supported.

Vicky Attenborough, Operations Director – South, Achieve together, said:

“We’re delighted to open The Third Space to the wider Brighton and wider Sussex community. From the outset, we wanted to create a space where people could come together, build connections and access opportunities that support their health and wellbeing.

“We’ve seen first-hand the positive difference the hydrotherapy pool and activity space have made to people we support. By opening bookings to community organisations, we hope even more people can benefit from this unique and inclusive facility.”

The opening of community bookings reflects our ongoing commitment to helping people live happy, healthy and meaningful lives. Through person-centred support and strong community partnerships, we empower people to build confidence, develop independence and achieve their goals.

The Third Space is available for:

✅ Hydrotherapy and wellbeing sessions
✅ Support groups
✅ Inclusive activities and events
✅ Training workshops
✅ Community gatherings

Laurie Finn, Registered Home Manager, Achieve together, added:

“Having worked for Achieve together for more than 25 years, I’ve seen first-hand the life-changing impact hydrotherapy can have for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

“The hydrotherapy pool itself was originally built in 1985 and operated successfully for many years before closing during the pandemic in 2020. Throughout 2025, we carried out extensive renovations, including a new roof and flooring, redesigned changing facilities and hoisting equipment, and a brand-new plant room featuring advanced technology to ensure precise water quality management.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this project and to see this invaluable resource open to the wider community. The pool and activity space offer a safe, accessible and welcoming environment where people can improve their physical wellbeing, build confidence and enjoy meaningful experiences.”

We’re excited to welcome community organisations and groups to The Third Space and look forward to seeing even more people benefit from this unique facility.
