PASS+PORT™ Train the Trainer

A programme of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training is enhancing understanding throughout our homes

In the past six weeks, our Positive Behaviour Support Team has run 11 courses around the country to train Home Managers in our unique PASS+PORT™ PBS/Physical intervention programme.

PASS+PORT™ has been re-accredited by BILD ACT* this year, in accordance with the Restraint Reduction Network standards. The aim of these 3-day courses is for Home Managers to be able to train their own teams. This will further positive behaviour support through day to day practice leadership.

Many of the managers have already arranged and delivered workshops of their own. The cascading of this knowledge is enhancing understanding of PBS practices and increasing the expertise of operational teams.

Head of PBS and Restriction Minimisation, Dan Morrison said: “The feedback from the courses has been extremely positive from trainers and managers. There have been some extremely insightful discussions and it is exciting to see the beginning of a huge increase in the awareness of the importance of PBS in our everyday practice, across our teams.”

A second tranche of training courses starts in September.
