About this support setting

Thoughtfully designed for independent living

What we offer

A safe and supportive place

Fernlea is a converted bungalow and is a fully adapted environment with wheelchair access in order to meet the needs of individuals. It has four bedrooms with accompanying wet rooms and has recently undergone extensive renovations.

The service has a large lounge, dining room and kitchen facilities for when people wish to socialise with others. There is also a garden with wheelchair access, including ramps, outside seating areas and paths. There is wifi available for residents, as well as satellite TV.

The local town of Wem is a market town halfway between Crewe and Shrewsbury. Barra is located close to Wem Station and is a short walk to Wem town centre and all its attractions, including museums, pubs, restaurants and sports clubs.

Lifestyle

Fernlea supports individuals to participate in a range of leisure activities both within the service and the wider community that build on skills and confidence. Some examples of these include swimming, cinema trips, bowling, meals out and various day trips.

Additionally, people will be supported with daily tasks, including budget planning and finances, meal planning, shopping and household tasks such as cleaning, with a view to moving on to more independent living. One user recently passed their theory and practical driving tests, and this has given them a huge increase in independence.
